Project Launch: 10-8-19

Kijima residents identified improved food security as their most pressing goal and elected to achieve this via a goat-rearing project. Participants will purchase twenty male goats and five female goats - using a village grant of $8,000, which will also provide start-up capital for their village savings fund. The community will use the goats to produce manure for fertilizing the fields and will share offspring with their neighbors to ensure equal communal benefits from the project. Community members will be able to generate income through the selling of goats, as well as through stud fees for their male goats. The greater productivity in their fields, as well as increased income from the selling and renting of goats, will both contribute to the community's overall goal of improved food security.
