Bitabaro Learning Center
Project Launch: 4-19-19
The Tworore Neza Cooperative in Bitabaro village was started in October 2018 to fight poverty and involve youth in community development. Through this World Connect grant, they will create a learning center where women and young adults from eight surrounding villages can acquire skills in hairdressing, carpentry, tailoring, and cooking. Through technical courses and business management training, the participants will be equipped to start their own businesses and build financial stability for themselves and their families. This will allow families in the area to diversify their income streams from a traditional base of smallholder farming. Local mothers surveyed prior the project expect to use their additional income to provide more protein-rich food options for their children to fight malnutrition.
